According to Nassau County Police Fraud and Forgery Detectives, the victim, a 77-year-old man from Lake Success, was contacted on Monday, Nov. 18 by an unknown male subject who claimed to be a bail bondsman who needed to pick up bail money for the victim's grandson, who was involved in a DWI auto accident, in the amount of $9,500.00 cash.

The victim complied and delivered the bail money to the specified location. The victim later recognized the suspect's picture, seen here after being arrested for an unrelated “Grandson in jail scam,” and contacted police.

Edward Rodriquez, of the Bronx, was arrested after a thorough investigation was conducted.

Rodriquez has been charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree fraud. He will be arraigned on Saturday, Nov. 30 at First District Court in Hempstead.
